Rug Cleaning in Slough
Pet urine in a rug is a different job from pet urine in a fitted carpet, because a rug has no underlay holding it and nothing beneath it to soak anything up. It goes straight through the backing and onto whatever the rug is lying on, which in a lot of Slough flats is laminate or vinyl. The smell then lives on the floor rather than in the rug.
Urine dries into crystals that are harmless until the air turns damp, and then they come back to life and the room smells again. That is why a rug can seem perfectly fine in winter and not in July. Surface cleaning only reaches the top of the pile, so the treatment has to flush the whole thickness and the backing with it, then be rinsed out completely.
We will tell you honestly when a rug is not worth the money. If the backing has gone soft, the foundation threads are rotting, or staining has spread across a large part of a light rug, doing it properly costs more than the rug is worth. Lifting it and dealing with the floor underneath is usually the more useful half of that job.

Slough questions
The things people in Slough ask us most often.
The dog has had an accident on the rug. What should I do first?
Blot it with white towels and press hard, then keep off it. Do not scrub, and leave supermarket stain removers alone, since most of them leave a residue that fixes the mark. Tell us what it was and roughly how long ago when you call.
Why does the smell come back in warm weather?
Urine dries to crystals in the pile and the backing, and humidity reactivates them, so a room that smelled clean in February smells again in July. The answer is flushing the full thickness of the rug and rinsing it out, not treating the surface.
Is the floor under the rug a problem too?
Often the main one. A rug has nothing beneath it to hold liquid, so urine goes through onto laminate, vinyl or boards and sits in the joints. Lift the rug, deal with what is underneath and clean the rug properly, or the smell stays.
When is a rug not worth cleaning?
When the backing has gone soft, the foundation is rotting, or a light rug is stained over a large area. We will say so before taking any money. A quote costs nothing, and we would rather lose the job than charge for a result that cannot happen.
