Cleaning carpets in Iver
Iver sits on the gravel terraces of the Colne valley, between the river and the big working pits. Gravel country means sharp, pale grit, and sharp grit is a different problem from mud. Mud sits on top of the pile and comes out with a vacuum. Grit works its way down to the backing, where every footstep grinds it against the fibre like a file.
You can tell grit wear apart from dirt easily enough. Dirty carpet looks darker. Abraded carpet looks grey and flat, with the tips of the fibres split, and it does not improve much when you clean it because the damage is already done. Why does my carpet look grey rather than dirty?

Yes, and it is a sensible way to reach the £50 minimum. Rugs start at £25 and mattresses at £25, so the two together come to £50 with nothing wasted. Rugs are cleaned on site unless the backing says otherwise.
