Cleaning carpets in Sherfield on Loddon
Sherfield on Loddon is built around one of the largest village greens in this part of Hampshire, with older cottages facing onto it, family houses along the lanes behind and newer development at Sherfield Park to the south. The Loddon runs close by, and the ground either side of it is heavy going for much of the winter.
Wet clay is the single most commonly mishandled thing on a carpet. The instinct is to grab a cloth and get at it while it is fresh, and that is exactly wrong: wet clay smears, covers three times the area it started with and gets driven down towards the backing, where nothing short of extraction will reach it.
Leave it. Walk round it for a day, let it dry hard, then vacuum it up - most of it will come away as dust and what is left behind is a faint shadow rather than a spread stain. It feels wrong to ignore a muddy footprint all evening, and it is still the right thing to do.

Sherfield on Loddon questions
The things people in Sherfield on Loddon ask us most often.
The dog has walked mud through the hall - do I clean it now or later?
Later. Let it dry completely and then vacuum it hard. Attacking wet mud with a cloth spreads it over a much bigger area and pushes it deep into the pile, which makes our job harder rather than easier.
Do you come out as far as the Loddon villages?
Yes - Sherfield on Loddon, Sherfield Park, Bramley, Hartley Wespall, Turgis Green, Stratfield Turgis, Stratfield Saye, Hound Green, Mattingley and Rotherwick. There is no travel charge to any of them and no call-out fee for a quote.
Is a village job priced differently from a town one?
No. The same room prices apply everywhere and there is no call-out fee, so a village hall, stairs and landing is £75 exactly as it would be in the middle of Basingstoke.
Could you do two houses on the same road in one morning?
Easily, and it suits everyone. If a neighbour wants something doing as well, book back to back - we are already set up and you each get a full job rather than a half-empty visit.
