Cleaning carpets in Tiddington
Tiddington is a small village strung along the road between Thame and Oxford, and it is one of those places where we are usually asked to do the whole ground floor at once. Along with the carpet there is nearly always a sofa involved. Upholstery is the thing people put off longest and are most surprised by afterwards, because a suite collects far more than it ever appears to.
Upholstery is priced by the piece rather than by the room. A dining chair seat is £10, a seat and back £15, an armchair £35, a two-seater £50 and a three-seater £80. We check the fabric before we start, because a cover that looks like a hardwearing weave can turn out to be viscose, which marks with plain water alone. That check takes a minute and it saves a great deal of trouble.
The reason a sofa dulls is body oil rather than dirt as such. It transfers from skin and hair into the arms, the headrests and the front edge of each cushion, and then holds onto every bit of dust that lands on it afterwards. That is a greasy soil, so it wants the right pre-spray and carefully controlled moisture rather than a wet scrub with something from under the sink.

Tiddington questions
The things people in Tiddington ask us most often.
What does a three-seater and a pair of armchairs come to?
£150 at our standard prices - £80 for the three-seater and £35 for each armchair. Dining chairs are £10 for a seat only or £15 with the back, so a set of six is worth adding while we are already set up.
The arms and headrests are darker than the rest - what is that?
Body oil from skin and hair, transferring where people rest and then trapping dust against the fabric. It is a greasy soil rather than a dry one, so it needs a proper pre-spray and dwell time rather than scrubbing at it with a cloth.
Can every sofa be wet cleaned?
Most can, but not all. Viscose and some linen blends mark with plain water, so we check the fabric and the manufacturer's code first. If something should not be wet cleaned we will tell you rather than risk ruining it.
Do you charge extra to come out to a village this size?
No. There is no travel charge and no call-out fee anywhere we work, and that includes Tiddington, Albury, Milton Common, Waterstock, Ickford, Great Milton and across to Wheatley. The only thing that sets the price is the rooms and pieces you want doing.
