Cleaning carpets in Weston Turville
Weston Turville sits on the floor of the Vale with the reservoir just to the north of it, and both of those facts end up on the carpet. The ground here is heavy clay rather than the chalk of the hills a mile away, and clay is by some distance the more awkward of the two. It is fine, it carries colour, and it stains the fibre rather than simply sitting in it.
Clay also holds onto water, which is why it goes on marking long after a dry spell has set in. The rule is the same as for any mud: leave it completely alone until it is bone dry, vacuum it hard, then let us take out what is left behind. Rubbing at wet clay spreads a brown ring three times the size of the original mark.
Air near open water sits a little damper, so drying here wants ventilation more than it wants warmth. Internal doors open, an extractor fan running and a window ajar somewhere will do more in an hour than the heating manages in three. It costs nothing, it shortens the wait, and we will say which rooms need it most.

Weston Turville questions
The things people in Weston Turville ask us most often.
What is the brown ring around the edge of a mud mark?
Clay. It carries its own colour, so it stains as well as soils, and wiping at it while it is wet pushes it outwards into a ring. Let it dry right through, vacuum the loose part away, and the rest comes out under hot water extraction.
Do you come out to the villages under the hills?
Yes. Weston Turville, Aston Clinton, Buckland, Bishopstone, Halton and Wendover are all places we are in most weeks. No travel charge and no call-out fee on any of them, however far down a lane you are.
Does living near the water make drying slower?
A little. The air holds more moisture, so ventilation matters more here than heat does. Open the internal doors, run an extractor fan and leave a window ajar, and you are still looking at a few hours rather than a whole day.
How much is a lounge and dining room together?
£75, being £40 for the lounge and £35 for the dining room. If the two are one open-plan space we price it as a single large room and give you that figure up front rather than counting doorways afterwards.
