Cleaning carpets in Consett
Consett stands high on the western edge of the county, up where the land starts turning into Pennine moor, and the weather here is wetter and colder than it is down on the coast. That is a drying question more than a cleaning one, and it is the thing we get asked about most on the phone from DH8.
Drying a carpet is not about heat, it is about moving air across a damp surface and giving that air somewhere to go. In a cold damp house with the windows shut, warm air simply holds the moisture and hands it back to the pile. Opening internal doors and running an extractor beats turning the heating up every time.
So we take extra dry passes here and we are specific about what to open afterwards. Two to four hours to touch dry is still normal, in clean socks. Fully dry by the evening is normal too, as long as something is moving the air rather than just warming it. If a room is still damp the next morning, something was shut that should have been open.

Consett questions
The things people in Consett ask us most often.
Will a carpet dry properly up here in winter?
Yes, with ventilation. We make extra dry passes and ask you to leave internal doors open and an extractor fan running. Air movement is what dries a carpet - heat on its own just holds the moisture in the room.
Should I put the heating on full afterwards?
Not on its own. Warm still air gets saturated and stops taking moisture up. A little warmth plus an open window or a fan is far better than a hot sealed room.
Do you get out to Castleside, Shotley Bridge and Ebchester?
Yes, and Blackhill, Leadgate, Delves Lane, Medomsley, Iveston, Dipton and Lanchester. All DH8 and all at the same prices - there is no travel charge for coming up the hill.
Can you clean a carpet in an unheated room?
We can, but say so when you book. A cold room needs more dry passes and longer with the air moving. If a room is genuinely unheated all winter we will talk through whether it is worth doing now or waiting.
