Wallingford is an old town on the Thames with a good deal of period property inside the line of the old defences and family housing spreading out behind it. Being on the river, the question we are asked here more than anywhere else is about water: what actually happens to a carpet that has been wet, and whether cleaning it is the answer or simply money thrown at the problem.
