Behind the old town, Clothall Common is a completely different proposition: modern estates, open-plan ground floors and pale fitted carpet throughout. The A1 is close enough to matter. Homes near the main roads pick up fine road dust, and it lands in the hall before it goes anywhere else.

Yes. Stairs are cleaned with a hand tool on a hose run from the van rather than by carrying a machine up, so a narrow Georgian staircase is no obstacle at all.
Do you cover Clothall Common as well as the old town?
All of SG7, including Clothall Common, Bygrave, Ashwell, Weston and Newnham. No travel charge anywhere in that area.
Is the dust from the A1 doing any harm?
It is mildly abrasive, so over time yes. It is not a staining problem, it is a wear problem, and getting it out on a sensible schedule is what keeps the pile from going flat.
How much to clean a hall, stairs and landing?
£75 for all three - £20 for the hall, £35 for the stairs and £20 for the landing. It is the best value job we do and it is the part of the house that actually shows.
