Cleaning carpets in Swindon
Swindon has two quite separate kinds of housing in it and they need different work. The railway terraces and the streets built for the works are dense, close-packed and often still wool or old nylon underfoot. The estates spreading north - Abbey Meads, Priory Vale, Taw Hill - are almost entirely modern developer carpet. Old Town up the hill sits somewhere between the two.
Developer carpet is nearly always pale polypropylene, chosen because it is cheap and resists staining. It does resist staining, very effectively. What it does not resist is greasy soil, which bonds to the fibre and makes a whole floor go flat and dull rather than spotty. People assume the carpet has worn out at two years old. It almost never has.
It needs a degreasing pre-spray, proper heat and firm agitation, and then it comes back a good deal further than its owners expect. The older terraces want the opposite treatment - less water, gentler chemistry, more dry passes - because there is real wool in them. We check the fibre first either way, because getting that wrong costs more than it saves.

Swindon questions
The things people in Swindon ask us most often.
Our new build carpet has gone dull after two years - is it finished?
Almost certainly not. Pale polypropylene holds greasy soil instead of staining, so it dulls evenly all over. A degreasing pre-spray and proper heat usually brings it back a long way. It is one of the more satisfying jobs we do.
Which parts of Swindon do you cover?
SN1, SN2, SN3 and SN25 - the town centre, Old Town, Walcot, Covingham, Stratton St Margaret, Haydon Wick, Abbey Meads, Taw Hill and Priory Vale. No travel charge in any of them.
Does it matter whether the carpet is wool or man-made?
Quite differently. Wool wants less water, gentler chemistry on the acid side and far more dry passes. Synthetic wants heat and a degreaser. Using the wrong approach on either is how carpets get ruined.
Can you clean a whole four-bedroom house in one visit?
Yes. A hall, stairs, landing, lounge and four bedrooms comes to £235 at our prices and takes most of a day. We work room by room so you are never short of somewhere to stand.
