Cleaning carpets in Tongwell
Tongwell is one of the northern grid squares, built out in the 1980s beside the lake and the industrial area, so the housing is a consistent era. Brick estate houses, square rooms, fitted carpet upstairs and hard floors creeping in downstairs as people refurbish. What varies most from one house to the next around here is not the building at all. It is the dog.
Pet work is a large part of what we do in this corner of the city, and it is worth understanding what you are actually dealing with. Hair and mud are easy and always come out. Urine is not easy, because it soaks straight through the carpet into the backing and often into the underlay, and the smell comes from what is sitting down there.
Surface cleaning a urine patch makes it look better for a week and then it comes back as the deposit travels up through the fibres again. It has to be flooded and extracted properly, and sometimes lifting the underlay is the honest answer. We will tell you which of those you are facing rather than take money for a job that is going to fail.

Tongwell questions
The things people in Tongwell ask us most often.
Can you get the dog smell out of the carpet?
Usually, if we can treat it properly. Urine soaks into the backing and the underlay, so it needs flooding and extracting rather than cleaning off the top. Where the underlay has taken too much, we will say so instead of pretending.
Do you cover Tongwell, Willen and Pennyland?
Yes, along with Blakelands, Bolbeck Park, Downhead Park, Giffard Park and Great Linford. That is all of MK15 and the squares around it, and we do not charge for travel to any of them.
Should I tell you where the dog sleeps?
Please do. That patch holds oils from the coat which bond soil into the fibre, so it needs a longer dwell time and a different pre-spray from the rest of the room. Knowing in advance saves us going back over it.
What does it cost to do the lounge, hall and stairs?
£95 at our standard prices - £40 for the lounge, £20 for the hall and £35 for the stairs. The landing is another £20 if you want the upstairs route finished in the same visit.
