Carpet Cleaning in Guildford
Merlin's Carpet Cleaning covers Guildford and the villages around it — steep period streets, student lets and family housing on the hills. We are family run with over ten years behind us, our prices are the ones on the list with nothing added afterwards, and every quote is free.
Cleaning carpets in Guildford
Guildford is built on hills, and anyone who lives here already knows what that does to a house - steep streets, rooms on several levels, and staircases with turns in them because there was no room for anything straight. The cathedral and the university sit on the high ground west of the centre, and the student rental market around them is large.
Student houses are a category of their own. They are usually older terraces with the carpet left in from the previous let, they change hands every summer within a few days of one another, and the inventory is checked hard because the deposit is the only leverage anybody has. The work itself is ordinary end of tenancy work - the timing is the difficult part.
Summer changeovers get booked up quickly, so a week or two of notice in June and July helps everybody. If the landlord or the agent is paying, we can invoice them directly and date the receipt for the inventory. If the outgoing tenants are splitting it, one person books and the rest settle up with them - either way it is one job and one price.

Guildford questions
The things people in Guildford ask us most often.
We are moving out of a student house - what needs doing?
The hall, stairs, landing and any carpeted bedrooms, plus the lounge if there is one. Carpet is what most deposit deductions get argued over, and a dated receipt from a professional clean settles it faster than anything else.
Can you work round a steep stair with several turns?
Yes. Turns and winders are hand work with a small tool, tread by tread, so an awkward flight takes a little longer than a straight one. The £35 stair price covers a standard flight either way.
Do you cover Onslow Village, Burpham and Merrow?
Yes, and Stoughton, Bellfields, Park Barn, Guildford Park, Jacobs Well, Shalford and Worplesdon. Both GU1 and GU2 and the roads around them are inside our normal area, with no travel charge and no call-out fee.
How much for a four bedroom house with a hall and stairs?
Four bedrooms at £30, a hall at £20, stairs at £35 and a landing at £20 comes to £195. Add a lounge at £40 if that is carpeted too, and you have the whole figure before we start.
