Carpet Cleaning in Northampton
Merlin's Carpet Cleaning covers Northampton and the villages around it — boot-and-shoe terraced streets, shared houses and family suburbs. We are family run with over ten years behind us, our prices are the ones on the list with nothing added afterwards, and every quote is free.
Cleaning carpets in Northampton
Northampton has some of the largest Victorian terraced districts anywhere in this part of the country, built for the boot and shoe trade, and they run street after street through Far Cotton, Semilong, St James and Abington. Tall narrow houses, a hall with barely room to pass, and a staircase that starts more or less at the front door.
A great many of those houses are let now, a fair number of them shared, and that changes the job completely. A shared house puts far more footfall through the hall than a family home ever does, changeovers land in a fixed week in the summer, and the carpet has to come back to the condition written in the inventory rather than to whatever looks acceptable.
We work to the date rather than to our own convenience, clean edge to edge instead of down the middle of the room, and leave a dated receipt behind. Landlords and agents can be invoiced directly. On terraced streets with no off-street parking we run the hoses from wherever the van can sit, which is often several doors away and never costs extra.

Northampton questions
The things people in Northampton ask us most often.
Do you work for landlords and letting agents in Northampton?
Regularly. We can invoice the agent or the landlord directly, work to a changeover date and leave a dated receipt for the inventory, which is the document that actually settles arguments over a deposit.
Which Northampton areas do you cover?
The central postcodes and the districts around them - Abington, Far Cotton, Semilong, St James, Kingsthorpe, Duston, Delapre, Weston Favell, Hardingstone and Moulton. No travel charge and no call-out fee anywhere in the town.
There is nowhere to park outside our house - is that a problem?
Rarely. The hoses reach a long way, so we can work from a space further down the terrace or round the corner. Mention it when you book so we know what we are arriving to.
How much to clean a shared house before handover?
It depends on the rooms. A hall, stairs, landing and four bedrooms comes to around £195 at our standard prices, and you get a firm figure in advance rather than an estimate that moves on the day.
