Do feather cushions survive being cleaned?
They do, if they are dried properly. Down takes up water quickly, so the cushions come off the frame, get cleaned and are dried through before they go back. Put a damp feather cushion back under a cover and the filling sets hard.
My cushion felt dry but was damp inside. Why?
Foam will do that. The outer face dries first while the core is still holding water, which is why we extract more than once rather than once hard. Leave the covers unzipped for a few hours if you are unsure.
Can you take the covers off and clean them separately?
We clean them on the cushion rather than removing them, because most covers shrink in a wash and will not go back on afterwards. If a cover is genuinely washable the label will say so, and then it is your call.
