Cleaning carpets in Knowl Hill
Knowl Hill sits on the old Bath road between Maidenhead and Twyford, with Littlewick Green on one side and Warren Row and Wargrave on the other. Living on a main road has a signature and it is easy to spot: the hall goes dingy first, it does so quickly, and no amount of vacuuming seems to make the slightest difference to it.
Traffic dust is not like garden soil. It is very fine, and it carries a greasy element from exhaust and tyre wear that binds it to the fibre rather than sitting loose on top. A vacuum lifts the dry part and leaves the rest behind, which is exactly why a hall can be vacuumed twice a week and still look permanently grey. It is dirt, not wear.
Greasy soil needs a degreasing pre-spray, time to work and hot water extraction to rinse it out. That combination is what shifts it, and the difference on a roadside hallway is usually the most visible thing we do all week. A hall is £20, stairs £35 and a landing £20, and the three together come to £75.

Knowl Hill questions
The things people in Knowl Hill ask us most often.
Why does the hallway go grey again so quickly?
Fine traffic dust, which carries a greasy film that binds it to the fibre. Vacuuming removes the loose part only. A degreasing pre-spray and hot water extraction take out what is left, and it usually lifts several shades.
Do you cover the villages between Maidenhead and Twyford?
Yes - Knowl Hill, Littlewick Green, Burchetts Green, Warren Row, Shurlock Row, Waltham St Lawrence, Ruscombe, White Waltham, Wargrave and Twyford. No travel charge across RG10 or the lanes around it.
Would a better doormat actually help?
More than almost anything else. A long mat inside the door, enough for three or four steps, catches the bulk of what comes in. It will not stop airborne road dust, but it takes real pressure off the hall carpet.
Will you quote it over the phone before you come out?
Yes. Tell us the rooms and we will give you a firm figure. The £50 minimum applies, there is no call-out fee and no travel charge, and the number we say on the phone is the number on the invoice.
