Carpet Cleaning in Borehamwood
Merlin's Carpet Cleaning covers Borehamwood and the villages around it — post-war housing, low-rise flats and family homes near the studios. We are family run with over ten years behind us, our prices are the ones on the list with nothing added afterwards, and every quote is free.
Cleaning carpets in Borehamwood
Borehamwood grew quickly in the studio years and again after the war, and the housing shows it plainly. Long runs of post-war semis and terraces, low-rise blocks of flats, maisonettes, and a good deal of later infill between them. It is practical housing with practical carpet in it, and the jobs here are usually about steady wear and traffic rather than one dramatic accident.
Flats need a little planning. The hoses reach several floors up a stairwell, so a first or second floor flat is straightforward as long as we can park within range and the door is on the latch. Drying is the part people underestimate: a flat with sealed windows and no through-draught holds damp for longer, so an open internal door and a bathroom fan genuinely help.
Mattresses are worth adding to a visit while we are already there. They are £25 each, they are cleaned with far less water than a carpet takes, and they dry within a few hours with a window open. Most people have two or three done at once, which is also a sensible way to use up the £50 minimum if the carpet is only a room or two.

Borehamwood questions
The things people in Borehamwood ask us most often.
Can you clean a carpet in a second floor flat?
Usually without any trouble. The hoses run from the van and up the stairwell, and the machine stays outside, so there is no equipment noise in the flat itself. Tell us the floor and the parking when you book.
How much is it to have a couple of mattresses done?
£25 each, with the £50 minimum applying to the visit rather than to each item. Two double mattresses meets the minimum exactly, and most people add a sofa or the stairs while we are set up anyway.
Do you cover Elstree and Well End as well as Borehamwood?
Yes - Elstree, Well End, Shenley, Letchmore Heath, Arkley and Stirling Corner, plus the whole of WD6. Nothing is charged for travel within that area. We are in and around Borehamwood most weeks.
Will the smell of cleaning hang about in a flat?
Not for long. There is a faint damp-carpet smell while it dries and it goes as the moisture does. If a room smelled before we arrived, that is usually something in the pile or the underlay, and we will talk to you about it.
